Hello, 2020!

With a new year comes a new opportunity to refocus on all the things you want to accomplish. We know this can seem especially daunting after a long holiday with delicious food and ample time for relaxation, but we’ve got a few tips on how to get you going again! Read on to discover Dr. Tariri’s secret to accomplishing goals.

Getting back into the groove of work after the holidays can be easy when you feel motivated by your holiday vacation. During the break, I usually start planning on how I can be more efficient and productive when I return to work. When work starts to get hectic, I practice both meditation and mindfulness exercises. This helps me stay balanced.

I have a few recommendations on how best to accomplish all your goals for the new year. First, single out a few select goals. Set aside an hour in a day to think about what you want to accomplish this year and write it down! Two goals that I always pledge to are making more time for exercise and eating healthy. Goals aside, it’s important to remember to do what makes you happy. You won’t accomplish anything if your heart isn’t in it.  The last tip is to live in the moment and practice mindfulness. The modern age is full of distractions, so if you can slow down and really be in the moment without thinking about the past or the future, that can help keep you healthy, happy, and finish your task at hand more efficiently.

Many patients have a similar goal of improving their dental health. My recommendation for making time to take care of your teeth is making sure to do it early at night right after dinner and before you get too tired and decide to skip brushing.

Eating healthier is another common goal shared by many and a sure way to stay on track is planning your weekly meals ahead of time. My go-to “easy” recipe is whipping up some chicken patties. I blend chicken fillets, garlic, spices, parsley, and onion in a food processor and then cook it in a pan. So delicious and healthy.
